Corvi's privacy, in plain words
Last updated: 2026-10-29
Corvi reads your screen only when you press its key, and the microphone is on only while you hold it. In most languages your speech becomes text on your Mac. The text or content you chose then goes over an encrypted connection to an AI service to be cleaned up or summarized; Corvi's servers don't keep it. Your history stays on your Mac. This page summarizes the privacy policy; the policy is what counts.
When Corvi looks and listens
| When | What exactly | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | Only at the moment you press Fn | The selected text, the message under the pointer, the main text of the page, a YouTube video's captions, or a screenshot if nothing else works |
| Microphone | Only while you hold Fn (or in hands-free mode, until you stop) | Your voice for that dictation or question |
Corvi does not watch your screen in the background and is not a recorder. Silent recordings are never sent anywhere.
What leaves your Mac, and why
- Content you asked about goes to the AI service that summarizes it or answers your question, over an encrypted connection. Corvi's own servers pass it on and don't store it.
- Dictated text goes to an AI service for punctuation and clean-up.
- Your voice stays on your Mac in most languages: a local Whisper model turns it into text. For a few languages the local model handles poorly, such as Hindi and Bengali, the recording is sent to Google Gemini for transcription.
- Account data (name, e-mail) is handled by Google Firebase for sign-in.
- Your dictionary, snippets, writing-style choices, streak and usage counts are kept with your account in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore (servers in the European Union), so another Mac can pick up where you left off.
- Usage and error reports (which action you used, word counts, durations, the app you used it in, error messages) are sent by default, without anything from your screen, your voice or your text. You can switch them off under Settings › Privacy.
The privacy policy names every provider and the legal basis for each use.
What stays on your Mac
Your history of summaries, questions and dictations, your settings and any API keys of your own stay in a folder on your Mac that only your user account can read. They are not sent to us.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't use it for advertising or profiling.
- We don't need your e-mail password or access to your mailbox; Corvi only reads what's on your screen when you press the key.
Stop typing. Stop reading. Talk and listen.
