Catch up on long Slack, Teams and WhatsApp chats by listening

Last updated: 2026-10-31

To catch up on a long Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp or Discord conversation on a Mac, open the thread or channel and tap Corvi's Fn key. You hear a short spoken summary: what was discussed, what was decided, and what is waiting for you. Double-tap Fn to ask "Did anyone mention my name?" or "What's the deadline?".

The problem: chat never stops

Chat replaced a lot of e-mail, but not the reading. A busy channel produces hundreds of messages a day, split into short lines, jokes, links and side threads. After a meeting-heavy morning, a holiday or a different time zone, the backlog is long, and the two messages that actually need you are buried in it. Scrolling through everything is slow; skipping it means missing decisions.

Microsoft's 2023 Work Trend Index found that 68% of people said they don't have enough uninterrupted focus time during the workday (Microsoft WorkLab). Catching up on chat is one of the things that eats it.

How to do it with Corvi

  1. Open the channel, thread or group chat and scroll to where the unread messages start.
  2. Tap Fn. Corvi reads the conversation on screen and tells you, in a few sentences, what happened and what is asked of you.
  3. Double-tap Fn to dig in: "What did the client decide?", "Who's waiting for an answer from me?", "Were there any links I should open?"
  4. Hold Fn and dictate your reply into the message box. Corvi writes chat replies in a more casual style than e-mail.

One message only? Point at it and tap Fn: Corvi reads the message under the pointer.

Long backlog? Do it screen by screen: tap Fn, scroll, tap again. Each summary takes a few seconds.

Works across languages

International teams write in several languages. Corvi summarizes in yours, whatever language the messages are in, so a thread in English, German and Spanish comes back to you as one summary in your language. See listen in your language.
